Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Kazakhstan Linguist and Cultural Advisor (CULAD)

 

Location: Camp Xiphos, Jordan (Secure U.S. Military Compound)
Assignment: Unaccompanied, one-year (extendable)
Schedule: Full-time, on-site; shift work may be required

 

Peraton is seeking a Kazakhstan Linguist and Cultural Advisor (CULAD) to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals supporting a large-scale program. The selected candidate will provide continuous monitoring, expert analysis, and assessment of global, regional, and tailored geopolitical media and news sources. This role is critical in delivering intelligence-driven insights and cultural expertise to support U.S. Government operations in the region.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Gather information on trends, behaviors, events, and global developments to generate media synopsis reports and geopolitical assessments.
  • Provide expert advice to DoD/MIL leadership on social media influence operations, policy, doctrine, decisions, trends, concepts, and studies.
  • Produce predictive recommendations and identify anticipated strategic communications opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and support communications plans.
  • Monitor industry and technology trends across traditional, digital, social, and mobile media platforms.
  • Apply directed or custom research methods aligned with client criteria.
  • Interpret and analyze oral and written source material, including classified reports, data, briefings, and conversations.
  • Deliver cultural expertise in both native Kazakh and U.S. English, in written and oral form.
  • Analyze data for coded patterns of information and interpret findings across a broad range of subjects.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Kazakh and professional fluency in English.
  • Strong background in geopolitical analysis, cultural advising, and media monitoring.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government or military operations in overseas environments.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and predictive recommendations.
  • Skilled in briefing senior leadership and collaborating across diverse team.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and 6 years of experience.  An additional 4 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years of experience as a researcher monitoring media and providing analysis of trends, political events, and geopolitical impacts.
  • Must be of Kazakhstan heritage who speaks/reads/writes Kazakh.
  • Must have experience with Kazakhstan target audience (males 18-36 years old) pop culture and associated social media technology.
  • Previous experience with US Military forces in a direct supporting role to MISO/IO/IW/IRCs.
  • Minimum of 5 years working or living within the CCMD AOR.
  • A minimum of passing 4/4/4 testing scores both in English and Kazakh.
  • Superior Kazakh reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to provide high quality presentations and work with small and large groups.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the cultural differences, nuances, customs, symbolism, mannerisms, and traditions of the various ethnic groups residing throughout Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan).
  • Excellent oral, written and electronic communication in English.
  • Demonstrated capability to work with Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • U.S. citizenship required. 
  • Current, active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Passport, not expiring within 1 Year.
  • Must be fully eligible for Jordanian Visa.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent Native Cultural Experience – Kazakhstan native.
  • Language ability in another required language; Russian, Tajik, Farsi, Arabic, at the same levels.
  • Experience with DOD/MIL Information Operations.
  • Broad Experience as a media monitor/researcher for the DoD.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
