Responsibilities

We are looking to add an AWS Applications Architect to our team of talented professions!

 

In this role, the AWS Applications Architect will:

  • Perform independent high-level design of enterprise application systems.
  • Establish the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework
  • Generates a set of acceptance test requirements for complex systems, together with the designers, test engineers, and the user to determine that all the high-level requirements have been met, especially for the computer-human-interface.
  • Work collaboratively with development teams and product owners to define AWS service and deployment requirements.
  • Design AWS implementations leveraging AWS Well Architected Framework principles.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain AWS resources using automated processes.
  • Trouble shoot issues across the wide range of AWS services and implemented application architecture.
  • Monitor system performance and security posture through AWS and third-party tools.
  • Actively and continually optimize AWS resources to ensure lowest cost while ensuring security, scalability, and high availability.
  • In collaboration with mainframe technical staff, develop solution architectures, artifacts and roadmaps to modernize legacy mainframe systems to the AWS cloud
  • Develop target architectures for all integration points and data exchange between all stakeholder systems.
  • Facilitate architectural governance based on best practices, as well as business and information technology strategies
  • Provide forward thinking and innovative solutions accounting for emerging technologies to propel modernization efforts forward.
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies to enable a successful modernization while maintaining timelines
  • Anticipate internal and external challenges to be able to recommend approaches or technologies to overcome potential blockers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, leaders, customers and stakeholders
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with AWS Services (Cloud formation, VPC, EC2, ECS S3, EBS, etc..).
  • Knowledge and experience in building APIs within AWS.
  • Experience in implementing DevOps tools sets and processes.
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub, Jenkins, Chef/Puppet, and Atlassian tool suite a plus.
  • Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated experience in delivering AWS solution architectures for secure, highly available and high-volume mission critical systems
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing solutions that deliver customer value.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business needs and requirements into comprehensive and clear architecture design artifacts
  • Strong understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework
  • Experience with core AWS services: EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda
  • Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (VPNs, VPCs, subnets, routing)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools like AWS CloudFormation, Anisble, Puppet and Terraform
  • Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and container services (ECS, EKS)
  • Must have an active AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications
  • Must be US citizen or Green Card holder

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty
  • AWS Certified Security Specialty
  • JAVA Full Stack Development on UNIX & Windows
  • Automation on Windows automation (Power Shell, Bladelogic, etc.)
  • DEVOPS (Environment Mgmt. & Application Release on Windows) and DevOps Practices
  • App middleware Architecture (IIS/.NET) on Java

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
