We’re looking for a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing Platform Team supporting a large-scale cloud-based analytics repository in Laurel, MD. If you thrive in complex technical environments, love working with open-source technologies, and enjoy optimizing large distributed systems — this role is for you. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to design, deploy, and maintain highly available, scalable infrastructure supporting mission-critical analytics.
Support and enhance large Hadoop and Accumulo clusters running in a high-performance cloud environment.
Build, monitor, and tune Linux-based systems for reliability and efficiency.
Implement and optimize observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
Automate deployment and configuration using tools like Ansible, Helm, and ArgoCD.
Collaborate with platform and application teams to introduce new open-source technologies and continuously improve system performance and reliability.
Strong background in Linux systems engineering (CentOS/RHEL preferred).
Hands-on experience with Hadoop and large distributed data platforms.
Familiarity with open-source ecosystems and a passion for learning new technologies.
Scripting or development experience in Python, Go, or Java (in that order of preference).
Kubernetes cluster administration and tuning
Kafka configuration, scaling, and performance management
Experience with Jaeger or other tracing frameworks
Expertise with Helm charts and ArgoCD pipelines
Deep understanding of Linux OS monitoring and tuning
Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Thanos for observability
Contributions to open-source projects or communities
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Work with cutting-edge open-source technologies in a collaborative, expert-driven environment.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience: 17+ years as a Systems Engineer on projects of comparable scope and complexity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or +5 years of SE experience in lieu of degree).
Certification: DoD 8570 IAT Level I (or higher).
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with current polygraph.
