Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Material Requirements Supervisor to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Material Requirements Supervisor works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS.  The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples: repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level. The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations.

 

Our Material Requirements Supervisor Performs material planning and manages purchasing activites. Oversees projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group performed by Unionized, non-exempt, and/or exempt employees. Specific tasks include: 

  • Analyzes manufacturing enterprise resource planning and other material requirements based on needs of assembly demands, component replenishments, substitute parts or materials, production setups, engineering changes and enterprise supplies
  • Develops raw material requirements and scheduling requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules
  • Resolves schedule, material requirement or business system problems with cross functional representatives
  • May use Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems
  • Approves part or material requisitions and initiates production and purchase change orders
  • Resolves master schedules and production problems and negotiates lead times
  • Evaluates, researches, studies and reports on material management inventory reorder points, stock levels, demand, and impact of material requirements
  • Prepares analysis and makes recommendations for changes in material management reporting and control systems
  • Interfaces with government agencies, customer representative and outside agencies regarding material requirements and demand forecasting
  • Manages, approves and schedules all purchase requisitions
  • Prepares written competitive and non-competitive material justifications
  • Prepares and presents reports regarding purchasing activities
  • Frequent use of industry practices, techniques and standards
  • Makes recommendations for promotions, merit increases, hiring of prospective employees, and ways to increase productivity
  • Helps motivate workers and provides technical guidance
  • Deals with disciplinary actions
  • Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department
  • Interprets and executes policies and procedures
  • Recommends modifications to operating policies
  • Extensive contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts
  • Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal or external representatives concerning specifics operations
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 3 years with Bachelor’s and 5 years with an Associate’s (or equivalent combination of training and professional work experience that provides the required knowledge and skills)
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance which is required to start
  • Inventory and demand planning
  • Project management
  • Strong analytical and transparent measurement skills (quantitative)
  • Experience with procurement justifications to include source selection and price/cost analysis
  • Proficient in writing/developing business case and justifications
  • Ability to balance and prioritize numerous deadlines
  • Demonstrate appropriate People Leadership Characteristics
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS, ISM or similar certification
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement /Root cause analysis
  • Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 experience or training

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Physical activity may include forklift, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motion
  • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment and to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
