Peraton is looking for a Cyber Systems Engineer to join our mission-focused team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this critical role, you'll help defend our nation’s most sensitive systems by implementing, managing, and enforcing comprehensive cybersecurity policies and practices.
As a key member of our Cyber Missions team, you will:
Maintain a strong security posture for complex information systems, ensuring strict adherence to policies, standards, and procedures.
Support day-to-day security operations, helping to protect systems handling classified information.
Evaluate and implement security solutions to meet evolving cybersecurity requirements.
Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments to support system certification and accreditation (C&A).
Manage system changes and assess the impact on security, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.
Provide configuration management of system security hardware, software, and firmware.
Prepare and maintain key security documentation, including:
System Security Plans (SSPs)
Risk Assessment Reports
Certification and Accreditation Packages
System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs)
Support security authorization activities aligned with DoD frameworks (e.g., NISCAP, DIACAP).
Serve as a trusted advisor and security authority, helping to shape and enforce IT security programs and policies across systems and enclaves.

Experience in cybersecurity engineering or information assurance
Working knowledge of C&A processes, security documentation, and risk management
Familiarity with DoD security standards and practices
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Requirements:
14+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer on projects of similar scope and complexity
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or 5 additional years of SE experience in lieu of a degree)
DoD 8570 IAM Level I (or higher) certification
Active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph
