Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in data architecture, Microsoft Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365 implementation, and Zero Trust security protocols. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to our legislative customer, providing strategic and technical leadership in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise architectures that protect critical law enforcement information systems.

 

This role is primarily remote; however, the Enterprise Architect must report on-site in Washington DC at least one (1) day per week to support mission collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Enterprise & Data Architecture

 

  • Data architecture: identifying data sources, documenting processes and procedures to maintain and mature data (quality, timeliness, etc.) 
  • Analyze Data: Must have the ability to develop a data structure and provide analysis through Excel pivot tables / charts 
  • Create detailed design documents, architecture diagrams, and data models.
  • Participate in the design and governance of enterprise-wide data strategies, frameworks, and reference architectures.
  • Define standards for data integration, interoperability, analytics, and lifecycle management across mission systems.
  • Ensure alignment of data architecture with business objectives, compliance requirements, and federal mandates.

 

Azure Cloud & M365 Implementation

 

  • Architect, deploy, and optimize solutions within Azure Cloud and Microsoft 365 (M365) environments to support secure collaboration, productivity, and mission-critical operations.

 

  • Drive cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy applications to Azure-based services.

 

  • Implement cloud governance models covering identity, access management, monitoring, and cost optimization

 

Zero Trust Architecture

 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Zero Trust security architectures, ensuring continuous authentication, least-privilege access, and strong data protection across all endpoints and applications.

 

  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to integrate advanced security controls, identity protection, and threat intelligence into enterprise solutions.

 

  • Establish architecture patterns that meet federal security frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-207, DHS CISA guidance).

 

Strategic Advisory & Governance

  • Develop technology capability models
  • Ability to develop decisions trees to support the identification of standard application(s) for discrete business needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Stakeholder leadership to align IT roadmaps with the Customer’s mission, operational needs, and compliance obligations.
  • Provide technical guidance to program managers, engineers, and security officers to ensure architectural consistency across projects.
  • Lead architecture review boards, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and interoperable.

 

Stakeholder Communication 

  • Propose persuasive architectural recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  •  Act as a bridge between enterprise architecture, development, project, and infrastructure teams.

Technology Evaluation 

  • Research and recommend platforms, tools, and services.
  • Assess trade-offs in scalability, cost, performance, and complexity

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 12 years experience or high school diploma and 16 years experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in enterprise architecture roles.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale enterprise solutions in Azure Cloud and M365 environments.
  • Deep knowledge of data architecture, governance, and integration practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure AD, Sentinel, Data Factory, Synapse, Purview).
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust protocols and implementation within federal and/or legislative regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft security and compliance tools (Defender, Purview, Entra ID, Intune).
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Masters degree in in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred Certifications: 

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
  • TOGAF, SABSA, or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
  • CISSP or CISM for security alignment

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
