Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced, energetic Certified Technical Scrum Master in support of our Dept of Education Program.  The candidate must be familiar with Agile Scrum, SAFE implementations and Program Increment Planning.  The Scrum Master must have the charisma and leadership abilities to guide teams in following process and capturing valuable metrics.   In addition, the candidate must be efficient, with little direction, in removing obstacles and impediments, ensuring that features are delivered on time.  The candidate will help remove obstacles and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement to create value for the customer.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and coaches teams in agile practices and processes; this includes the proper writing of a User Story and Acceptance Criteria using the latest agile standards.
  • Organize and facilitates Team Events including: Iteration Planning and Kick-Off Ceremonies, Daily Stand-Up Meetings, Iteration Reviews (System/Solution Demonstration coordination), Retrospective Meetings, and Backlog Refinement Meetings.
  • Continuously, keep Agile tools up to date
  • Tracks team velocity and trends; keeps Records of the team performance
  • Assists Agile Team in setting attainable goals
  • Assists Agile Team in making appropriate commitments through use of historic metrics and capacity planning
  • Captures Team metrics and ensures the integrity in all metrics related to the Agile Team
  • Provides team progress reports
  • Maintains the Team’s Risk Dashboard and removal of impediments and/or mitigation of risks in advance
  • Identifies team inefficiencies and provide coaching to help the team progress to a high-performing agile team
  • Coaches team to continuously grow percentage of automation or automated testing and tracks the growth
  • Provides tracking of team’s Technical Debt and assists the PO in setting goals to drive down technical debt
  • Assists scrum teams with the methods to prioritize and resolve defects/bugs
  • Fosters an environment of open communication among the team to raise issues and impediments early.
  • Responsible for immediate escalation and growing the team’s sense of urgency

 

Qualifications

Required qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8  years’ experience OR 12 years of experience with a HS Degree
  • 8 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • At least one Agile Certification; CSM, CSP, CSPO, CST, CEC, CTC, SP, SA; equivalent or higher.
  • Agile Scrum, SAFe and/or DevOps implementation experience.
  • Participation in at least 1 Program Increment
  • Experience configuring and utilizing JIRA and Confluence
  • Documented experience grooming product backlog
  • Experience capturing and tracking metrics to manage workflow
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired qualifications:

  • Self-Motivated; can take appropriate actions with little to no direction.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Experience in implementing microservices architecture
  • Commercial Cloud Certification (AWS or Azure)

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
