Join Peraton’s Cyber Missions team in Annapolis Junction, MD, as a Cyber Systems Engineer / Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) and become a key contributor in defending and securing complex systems at the highest levels.

What You’ll Do

As a Cyber Systems Engineer / ISSO, you’ll be at the forefront of cybersecurity, responsible for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical systems. You’ll support the full lifecycle of cybersecurity operations, ensuring alignment with federal frameworks and best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for assigned systems.

  • Provide expert technical and compliance support for the organization’s Information Assurance (IA) program.

  • Plan, coordinate, and enforce IT security protocols across multiple systems and mission-critical projects.

  • Maintain the operational security posture of high-value systems in accordance with government regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and methodologies.

  • Monitor systems daily, respond to incidents, and support real-time security operations.

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in support of Certification & Accreditation (C&A) efforts.

  • Evaluate and recommend security tools and technologies to support classified environments.

  • Oversee system configuration management and assess the security impact of system changes.

  • Create and maintain vital security documentation, including:

    • System Security Plans (SSPs)

    • Risk Assessment Reports

    • C&A Packages

    • System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs)

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI with current polygraph required.
  • Experience: 10+ years as an ISSO on programs of similar scope and complexity. Must have expertise in at least one of the following: modern security tools, hardware/software security integration, communication protocols, or encryption technologies.

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. An additional 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

  • Certification: Must hold a DoD 8570 IAM Level I or higher.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
