Responsibilities

SafeGuard Services (SGS), a subsidiary of Peraton, performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse.

We are looking to add a Statistician to our SGS team of talented professionals.

 

What you'll do:

  • Develop sampling designs to support Medicaid compliance, fraud case development and Medicaid Managed Care Program Integrity oversight.
  • Collaborate with Investigations, Audits, and Medical Review staff to develop projection methodologies consistent with the client policy manuals, e.g. IOM 100-15 and State’s policies.
  • Extract data from multiple systems; use various statistical tools, neural network and machine learning techniques for sampling, projections and analysis to detect potentially fraudulent behaviors and build designs to support fraud case development and evaluate whether the Medicaid Managed Care Plans (MCPs) activities are safeguarding the Medicaid program.
  • Present results of statistical work to non-statistical audiences, including investigators, law enforcement agents and people at all levels.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with five years of experience or Master’s degree with 3 years in statistics or in a related field (e.g., psychometrics, biostatistics, econometrics, mathematics)
  • Significant coursework in sampling and estimation methodologies.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge, including statistical software (Python, R, SAS, or equivalent), MS Office applications (Access, Excel, Word), data management tools (Business Objects).
  • Healthcare claims data experience.
  • Excellent analytic and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to deliver high quality work.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • US citizenship required.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
