Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server databases. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operation of SQL Server environments, troubleshooting database issues, and performing database restoration tasks

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Install, configure, and monitor both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server environments.

• Review the existing database architecture; design a new database architecture to be implemented throughout the enterprise
• Install and configure databases that support various enterprise products and applications (SharePoint, Exchange, Customer Relationship Management, etc)
• Perform routine database maintenance, including version upgrades, backups, and database restoration
• Troubleshoot SQL Server-related issues, ensuring system availability and performance.
• Provide data analysis and create custom reports.
• Assist with configuring and managing data feeds to and from SQL Server across on-premise and cloud systems.
• Monitor and manage the security, performance, and availability of SQL Server instances and databases.
• Senior DBA will ensure compliance with all regulations, upgrades, optimizing the performance of all databases, and supporting future planning.

Required:

• Requires a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; 4 additional years of experience in lieu of BS can be considered
• IAT Level III required upon start date
• Minimum of 10+ years of Database Administration (DBA) experience.
• Minimum of 8+ years database design including capacity planning, configuration, migration, performance monitoring, tuning, security, data recovery and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, and administration in an on-premise and cloud environment.
• Oracle DB certification; Version 12 or above. General knowledge in virtualization and networking in a working knowledge of MS Project.
• Experience with designing, installing, and standing-up a new database structure to support an enterprise.
• Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and performance tuning in SQL Server environments.
• Experience in providing technical support for database environments, including user troubleshooting and maintaining system performance.
• Proficiency in Python and PowerShell is highly preferred for automating tasks, managing databases, and supporting system administration.
• Knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery, and data restoration best practices.

Desired:

• Experience with Oracle SQL and PostgreSQL databases, including optimization, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and other complex database-related issues
• Experience with installing and configuring SQL Server to support SharePoint. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
