Facility Engineering Technician IV

Peraton Space Technology Services (STS) is the prime contractor on the Environmental Test and Integration Services III (ETIS III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).  We support the GSFC Engineering and Technology Directorate’s Mechanical Systems Division in Greenbelt, Maryland. We provide facility operations and maintenance as well as integration and testing to support spaceflight hardware development. 

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities ensure spacecraft and flight experiments will withstand the rigors of launch and will operate properly in the space environment. In addition to operations, these technical facilities have on-going goals of advancing the state-of-the-art in the development of improved space flight systems.

The Facility Engineering Technician IV is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of equipment and supporting facilities including cleanrooms, TVAC chambers, environmental testing equipment and general industrial equipment. This position will perform troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and cooling systems. The Technician will support the operations and fabrication teams by ensuring test facility availability. The Technician will support day-to-day activities that include walk-through punch lists, inspections as well as organizing and maintaining electrical and mechanical support areas. The Electrical/Mechanical technician directly supports projects under the ETIS III Contract for the modification of Integration and Test Facilities at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

What you'll do:

• Directs or performs complex daily mechanical or electrical technician tasks for, preventative maintenance, repair, or upgrade of mechanical and electrical systems. Work will primarily concern the GSFC I&T complex, but upgrades may be required at other buildings within GSFC.
• Demonstrates full competency in the maintenance and repair of of various electrical or mechanical equipment related to aerospace integration and test.
• Read, write, and interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications to perform maintenance, troubleshoot and repair all manner of environmental test equipment and ancillary equipment.
• Complete all work to Industry, NASA, and GSFC requirements.
• Ability to work safely, follow directions, and conduct quality and safety inspections. Must understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
• Comfortable wearing and maintaining proper PPE
• May direct a small group. In this skilled level, depending on area of assignment, works with or leads other technicians in repairing and maintaining equipment, facilities and systems

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required. Specialized training and operator certification pertaining to area of assignment is required.
• This position requires a minimum eight years of experience related to the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of engineering terms and ability to efficiently operate computers is required.
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision and to read and interpret schematics, work from sketches and drawings is required.
• Must be capable of passing required physical examinations and successfully complete assigned training and required certifications
