Responsibilities

 

Peraton is seeking a visionary and accomplished Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to shape and amplify our brand, reputation, and voice across the industry and beyond. This executive will lead the strategy and execution of all marketing, brand, and communications functions, driving awareness, engagement, and growth in alignment with the company’s mission and long-term strategy.

 

As a trusted partner to the executive leadership team, the CMO will be a transformative leader with the experience to unite teams, shape culture, and accelerate growth and be responsible for stewarding our story while positioning the company as an employer of choice, a trusted partner to our customers, and a recognized leader in the government contracting community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy that elevates the company’s brand, market presence, and competitive positioning.
    • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, CGO, and executive team on corporate reputation, external affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Culture Transformation
    • Lead culture transformation initiatives that unify marketing, communications, and brand strategies across a global and diverse enterprise, enabling employees to see their role in enterprise success.
    • Model inclusive and influential leadership, inspiring collaboration and accountability, and reinforcing behaviors that drive performance and belonging.
    • Champion growth as a mindset, embedding innovation, agility, and customer-centricity into the team’s DNA.
  • Brand, Marketing & Digital Strategy
    • Strengthen and evolve the company’s brand identity to reflect a modern, technology-forward mission partner.
    • Lead marketing campaigns, digital platforms, and content strategies to highlight capabilities, thought leadership, and innovation.
    • Advance the company’s digital strategy, ensuring modern and data-driven approaches to customer and stakeholder engagement.
  • Corporate & Executive Communications
    • Oversee communications that inspire, inform, and engage a geographically dispersed workforce.
    • Partner with executives to develop thought leadership, speeches, and media presence that enhance visibility and credibility.
    • Shape crisis communications and issues management strategies to protect and strengthen the company’s reputation.
  • Media, Public & Investor Relations
    • Build and manage strong media relations to ensure consistent, positive coverage across industry, business, and local press.
    • Direct investor relations communications, ensuring transparency, consistency, and credibility with shareholders and stakeholders.
    • Advance corporate citizenship initiatives, reinforcing the company’s role as a responsible corporate partner and community leader.
  • Events & Engagement
    • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of industry tradeshows, conferences, and corporate events to maximize visibility and return on investment.
    • Ensure alignment of events and sponsorships with corporate priorities and customer engagement strategies.
  • Market Intelligence & Positioning
    • Oversee competitive intelligence and market analysis to inform corporate strategy, business development, and campaign positioning.
    • Develop compelling capability narratives and product positioning tailored to customer missions and evolving market needs.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ experience and a proven track record of executive-level marketing and communications leadership, preferably within the government contracting, aerospace, defense, or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in shaping and protecting corporate reputation at scale.
  • Expertise in brand building, digital marketing, media relations, and corporate communications.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence and collaborate across senior leadership teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and storytelling skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field preferred. 
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance.  US Citizenship Required.

Target Salary Range

$229,000 - $366,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
