REMOTE Opportunity – Full Stack Developer (Java / Spring Boot / Angular)

 

Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Developer with strong Java/Spring Boot/Angular experience to join our BEAGLE Team (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology), supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The ideal candidate will serve as an Agile Scrum team member providing software development and maintenance for the delivery of releasable software in short sprint cycles.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for activities associated with delivery of software solutions associated with customer-defined systems and software projects by working in close collaboration with software developers/engineers, stakeholders, and end users within Agile processes.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing custom software and database application capabilities for a variety of legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight.
  • Act as a member of a product team supporting teammates and collaborating with a do what it takes attitude to ensure product and team success.
  • Providing improvements to the product(s) being supported.
  • Actively participate in release and sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, regression testing, demonstrations and retrospectives and solution releases.
  • Support release planning with conceptual design and development / refinement of software engineering guidelines.
  • Analyzing complex project-related problems and creating innovative solutions involving scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components.
  • Ensuring product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reports.
  • Providing mentoring to junior members of the team.
  • Bridge the gap between user interface design and technical implementation.
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Creating reusable libraries, developing interactive and responsive interfaces, implementing complex solutions, encouraging quality code through conducting reviews/leading tests.
  • Implement new features by transforming mockups into fully functional user interfaces integrated with API enabled microservice built on Spring Boot based backend.
  • Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, CM, quality assurance, and release management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline and 8 years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 10 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years relevant experience.  
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a CBP background investigation to include:
    • 3 year check for felony convictions
    • 1 year check for illegal drug use and misconduct such as theft or fraud.
  • 7+ years of related technical experience with software design, development and implementation in a Windows Environment.
  • Strong expertise in Java Spring Boot, Angular (TypeScript, Angular Material), HTML, CSS, JavaScript., PostgreSQL, microservices architecture, AWS.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, SPAs, reusable components, and microservices architecture (AWS, PostgreSQL).
  • Hands-on knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPNs, TCP/IP, and enterprise networking concepts.
  • Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
  • Demonstrated professional experience with developing SPA (Single Page Application) using a modern UI framework (Angular and Angular Material), backed by RESTful services.
  • Object oriented design and development (OODD) expertise, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Knowledge of creating Angular components, services, good understanding of state management and UI performance.
  • Experience with source code control systems and concurrent development workflows (Git preferred).
  • Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, AWS Solutions Architect, OCP Java).
  • Experience with DevOps/CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with tools like Kafka, ETL frameworks, UML, automated testing, or Angular state management (NGRX/NGXS).
  • Strong background in application security and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills that include leading design-related conversations, ability to build and nurture good relationships and foster an environment for collaboration.
  • Passion for user experience and user-centric development.
  • Continuously research new and best coding practices.
  • Experience with SQL or PL/SQL Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL Server databases a plus.
  • Experience with source code control systems and concurrent development workflows.
  • Understanding of system architecture concepts and experience with system design (defining service building blocks, data flow, building systems with scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind).
  • Familiarity with any of the following is highly desirable: ETL tools, messaging tech such as Kafka, application security, automated testing, UML, state-management angular libraries such as NGRX or NGXS.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
