Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly capable and proactive SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize our database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup strategies.  The preferred candidate will also have hands-on experience in Apache NiFi for data flow automation and integration.
 
In addition to core DBA responsibilities, this role includes system administration tasks, such as managing Windows Server environments, scripting, and supporting infrastructure operations. This is a hybrid role that requires a strong understanding of both data and systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms.
 
Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases (2016+)
  • Monitor performance, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and high availability strategies
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments
  • Ensure database and system security through access controls and auditing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and server issues in production and non-production environments
  • Document procedures, configurations, and best practices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, query optimization, and database design
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server administration
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages
  • Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS
  • Experience using NiFi for ETL workflows 
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
