Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Applications Database Analyst to join our team our innovative team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the United States Postal Service (USPS) program. The ideal candidate will analyze and translate business requirements into efficient database designs that meet the data needs of the organization and align with the business goals and processes. As a critical member of our team, you’ll serve as the liaison between users and our IT organization, shaping technology solutions that align with business goals. This position is 100% remote.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical database models using tools like ERD diagrams to depict a visual representation of the organization's data and how it relates to the business requirements. Utilize common database design patterns to solve recurring design problems.
  • Utilize common data integration techniques to consolidate data from multiple sources into a cohesive and consistent dataset.
  • Utilize normalization principles to reduce redundancy and improve data integrity.
  • Implement indexing techniques to optimize query performance and data retrieval.
  • Use data security best practices to enforce data privacy and protect sensitive information.
  • Design database that can scale horizontally or vertically to handle increasing workloads.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, developers, architects, and other team members to ensure the database design meets the project requirements.
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts and tools to design database structures, entities, relationships, and data flow diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to optimize database performance and data integrity.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze data, identify patterns, and make data-driven recommendations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 5+ years’ experience or Associates degree and 7+ years’ experience or a High School Diploma and 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
    • Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years. 
    • Candidate must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Proficiency in database management systems like MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Strong command of SQL (Structured Query Language) for querying, manipulating, and managing data within databases.
  • Familiarity with database administration tasks such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and user access control.
  • Knowledge/experience with Agile Methodologies and SDLC practices.
  • DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Experience with Cloud architecture, design and development.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • USPS or other federal agency experience highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and business users, and to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
