Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly capable Deputy Program Manager to support mission-critical analytics-driven technology initiatives for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In this role, you will assist the Program Manager in overseeing project execution, guiding cross-functional teams, managing subcontractor and vendor interactions, and ensuring successful delivery of technical solutions that enhance CBP’s intelligence and targeting capabilities. You will leverage strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to help drive project outcomes and mission success. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Program Manager in executing the full lifecycle of analytics-focused technology projects, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals. 
  • Assist in leading the development of user-centric intelligence- formed analytical tools that support threat detection and targeting efforts across multiple domains. 
  • Coordinate tasks across cross functional teams using Agile methodologies, ensuring collaboration and progress across concurrent projects. 
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, gathering technical and business requirements, and translating them into actionable plans. 
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, track milestones, and escalate risks or issues as needed to the Program Manager. 
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to ensure alignment with technical specifications and delivery timelines. 
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance in areas such as DevOps tools, data systems, and analytics platforms. 
  • Support project reporting, documentation, and customer briefings, maintaining high standards of communication and professionalism. 
  • Step into the Program Manager role as needed during absences or surge activity. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS with 10 years of experience; MS/MBA/MA with 8 years; PhD with 4 years. 
  • DoD Top Secret (TS) security clearance – current and active (DHS CBP preferred). 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS CBP Suitability. 
  • U.S. Citizenship required.  
  • Strong understanding of relational databases for analytics and application development (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). 
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies. 
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Atlassian Suite – JIRA, Confluence; GitLab). 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface directly with government stakeholders and technical teams. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • PMP certification (active or ability to obtain). 
  • Experience working with machine learning tools/platforms such as AWS SageMaker, DataRobot, SAS, Python, or H2O. 
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, NiFi, Sqoop). 
  • Experience supporting CBP, especially the Targeting and Analysis Systems Program Directorate (TASPD), is highly desired. 
  • Prior experience as a Deputy PM, Technical Lead, or Agile Project Coordinator in a federal or DHS-related environment.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
