Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Cyber Mission business unit located in Annapolis Junction, MD. The team supports multiple products that automate manual tasks so that mission customers can focus on more complex issues. The team employs Agile methodologies and DevOps principles to ensure that high-quality, reliable software is delivered to the customer. The position is to be performed in a contractor facility which allows for flexible work schedules. In addition, the opportunity for teleworking is available based on tasking and customer approval.
The Systems Engineer Level is expected to analyze user’s needs, draft concept of operations documents, and use high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing system requirements and participates in design and development activities, guide the users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies. The candidate will also plan and conduct system verification activities.
Additional responsibilities include the following:
Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system integration and test plans. Interacting with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Communicating with other program personnel and government overseers.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. In lieu of a degree, an additional five (5) years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted.
Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph is required.
Proven experience planning and leading comprehensive systems engineering efforts.
Proficiency in implementing robust Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
Ability to conduct and/or evaluate end-to-end system trade studies to optimize lifecycle performance, balancing key non-functional performance attributes.
Capability to manage configuration control throughout the system’s lifecycle—including hardware, software, and documentation.
Skilled in developing system design alternatives that take into account lifecycle cost, reusability, complexity, risk, and scalability.
Familiarity with current and emerging agency, national, and international development standards relevant to the system.
Ability to evaluate and recommend preferred technical solutions based on defined selection criteria.
Experience providing technical guidance across the full systems engineering lifecycle.
Ability to define software interfaces fully—addressing origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with current and emerging agency-specific dataflow architectures and reporting tools.
Proven ability to develop performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements for mid-to-large scale systems.
Experience leading Agile development efforts.
Experience integrating Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products from multiple vendors.
Expertise in designing and deploying storage solutions in clustered or cloud-based environments.
Familiarity with planning and implementing secure, compliant systems aligned with legal, policy, and regulatory requirements.
