Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Cyber System Engineer to support our Common Data Link Management System (CDLMS) Software Engineering Support (SES) Program contract at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) facility in San Diego, CA.  

 

As a Senior System Engineer you will be supporting one of several systems within the C2P functions. This position will involve maintaining and implementing new capabilities (ECPs) into the RSCP test tool, System Host. The selected candidate will lead and support development scenarios for Host stimulus and also use a data reduction tool to analyze data between C2P and RSCP.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Lead the virtualization of a legacy HP-UX system
  • Assess and replicate hardware dependencies into a virtualized environment using appropriate virtualization platforms
  • Administer Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers, including system setup, patching, and performance tuning
  • Create and modify RHEL Kickstart configurations to automate deployments
  • Review, implement, and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for Linux environments
  • Build and maintain RPM packages for internal software distribution
  • Develop automation pipelines using Jenkins for build, deployment, and monitoring tasks
  • Manage networking configurations
  • Design and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans for both HP-UX and Linux environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration, security, and availability

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education:  5 years with BS/BA, 3 years with MS/MA or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Clearance:  Active Secret clearance
  • Certification:  Security + required
  • Experience administering HP-UX systems, with exposure to legacy versions
  • Proven expertise in virtualizing legacy UNIX systems, preferably HP-UX, on modern hardware or virtualization platforms
  • Strong Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration experience, including automation and configuration management.
  • Experience creating/modifying Kickstart files for automated Linux installations
  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and security best practices
  • Solid understanding of Linux networking concepts and hands-on experience configuring network interfaces and services
  • Proficiency in building RPM packages
  • Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools for automation
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions and best practices
  • Strong scripting skills (shell, Python, or similar)

Preferred:

  • Experience with HPE Integrity Virtual Machines, Stromasys Charon, or other hardware virtualization solutions
  • Experience working with very old, unupgradeable HP-UX systems and the associated challenges
  • Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage and integration with virtualized environments
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies, even if not applied directly to HP-UX
  • Experience working in highly secure environments requiring compliance with DoD or other regulatory frameworks

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
