Responsibilities

Peraton seeks a Data Scientist/Analyst to provide Analysis, Data Science, and Generation of Dashboards/Reports in support of the DODIN inspections, assessments, and audit team. The Department of Defense Cyber Defense Command (DCDC) leads DoD’s unified force approach to network operations, security, and defense across the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN).

 

Location:  Fort Meade, MD.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain a dashboard to track and visualize inspection data at multiple classification levels using Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) business intelligence solutions.
  • Identify relevant data sources from assessments and other cybersecurity related data and aggregate data from various sources into a centralized and secure data repository.
  • Integrate external threat intelligence feeds into the data analysis process to enrich the analysis.
  • Analyze and interpret industry standards, best practices, and metrics to enhance reporting dashboards
  • Acquire, cleanse, and explore large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights, working with big data technologies and distributed computing platforms.
  • Create ad hoc reports or analysis products in support of DCDC and USCYBERCOM mission requirements. Tailor the reports to
    provide actionable insights and recommendations for improving cybersecurity posture.
  • Develop and deliver Quarterly, Annual, and Monthly DODIN Inspection metrics report and briefings and Inspection, Assessment and Audit Support.
  • Develop, update, and ensure distribution of all DODIN Inspection-related reports and dashboards to various organizations -- CCRI/CSSP/PKI Audit/RCP Dashboards (weekly); monthly metrics reports; weekly trip closure reports and associated actions; and various compliance/failure trackers.
  • Incorporate cybersecurity threat intelligence, data science techniques, and analytics tools to continuously improve the cybersecurity data analytics process.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.  Will consider HS+16
  • Must have Tableau expertise:
    • Using Tableau, create dashboards and reports.
    • Using Tableau, be able to transform raw data into easily digestible visual representations for better comprehension and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills to translate stakeholder requirements into system use-cases.
  • Able to transform data sets into a common schema by merging various event types to create enriched datasets.
  • Able to support the consolidation of metadata, data management, and search tools into a comprehensive Cybersecurity Data Catalog.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain IAT Level II certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Active TS clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with the Department of Defense various specialized cybersecurity applications and big data analytical systems.
  • Familiar with industry standards, best practices, and metrics for developing reporting dashboards, risk management tooling with regard to cyber

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
