Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our engineering team supporting EUCOM in Stuttgart, Germany. This role is focused on delivering highly available, performant, and automated systems that empower operations staff with the tools needed to successfully execute their missions.

 

We’re looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, a strong technical perspective, and enjoys working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment to build practical, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly reliable and scalable systems
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and eliminate single points of failure
  • Build and manage automation frameworks across multiple global environments
  • Partner with operations teams to develop use cases for automation and orchestration
  • Define and drive the roadmap for DevOps tool development and maturity
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform
  • Provide engineering and operational support for enterprise applications and databases
  • Automate system reporting, optimize performance, and deliver after-action reports
  • Analyze metrics to support performance tuning and fault resolution
  • Enhance reliability through testing, monitoring, and sound release practices
  • Lead system architecture, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Balance rapid development with maintaining defined service level objectives (SLOs)

Qualifications

What you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience (3+ years with a Master’s, 0 with PhD, or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • TESA eligibility and an active U.S. passport
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, Go, PowerShell
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools: Ansible, VMware Aria, ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and configuration management tools: Git, GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
  • Strong background supporting enterprise platforms, virtual infrastructure, storage, or networks
  • Ability to meet DoD 8570 IAT II compliance (e.g., Security+)

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a DevOps-focused role
  • Industry certifications: VCP, CCNP, RHCE, or equivalent
  • Proven success implementing automation/orchestration in day-to-day operations
  • Ability to advocate for automation with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe development environments
  • Familiarity with containerization: Kubernetes, Docker

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
