Responsibilities

We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with proven expertise in Hyperspectral Imagery (HSI) integration to support advanced GEOINT initiatives across the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and key federal agencies.

This is a mission-critical opportunity for an engineer who understands both the technical complexity and operational value of spectral imaging—someone ready to lead, mentor, and drive innovation in one of the IC's most dynamic capability areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor mid- and junior-level systems engineers across all phases of the engineering lifecycle—including requirements, design, integration, and testing—with a focus on HSI systems and data workflows.

  • Oversee the integration of spectral and hyperspectral data into analytical platforms, tools, and enterprise GEOINT architectures.

  • Analyze and trace user needs to system architecture and performance requirements, particularly those related to hyperspectral exploitation.

  • Conduct strategic planning, systems analysis, and architectural assessments of cloud, on-premise, and hybrid infrastructures supporting GEOINT services.

  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders to translate mission requirements into actionable system and capability designs that leverage emerging spectral technologies.

  • Support the development of solution designs and technical documentation that optimize reliability, resiliency, and performance for spectral data processing.

  • Lead system integration and testing activities for complex, multi-sensor, multi-platform environments.

  • Participate in Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), trade studies, and risk assessments with emphasis on next-gen spectral sensor solutions.

  • Ensure successful integration and interoperability of HSI-enabled systems across Major System Acquisitions and partner agencies.

Qualifications

Peraton offers enhanced benefits to employees working on this critical National Security program, which include heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for you and your dependents, 25 days of PTO accrued annually up to a generous PTO cap and eligible to participate in an attractive bonus plan.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Imagery Analysis, or a related STEM field (or equivalent experience: +4 years without a degree or +2 years with a non-STEM degree).

  • 12+ years of experience in systems engineering roles supporting the DoD, IC, or Federal Government.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Hyperspectral Imagery (HSI) systems and spectral exploitation tools.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle in complex environments (System of Systems, SOA, etc.).

  • Experience assessing infrastructure performance across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid architectures.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain SCI clearance and successfully pass a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or supporting NGA or mission partner agencies, particularly on programs involving GEOINT or spectral capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements, or PPBES processes.

  • Background in integrating spectral data into automated analytical workflows.

  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.

  • Prior leadership experience on engineering teams involved in multi-INT or space-based sensor integration.

Why This Role Matters:

Hyperspectral imagery is redefining the way we collect, process, and exploit intelligence. As a Senior Systems Engineer in this space, your expertise will directly impact mission effectiveness and national security decision-making. This is your chance to shape the future of GEOINT through the lens of spectral innovation.
