Responsibilities

We're seeking a skilled writer to join our communications team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing and editing, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-organized content that meets the needs of our stakeholders. This role will involve working closely with senior-level customers and subject matter experts to develop a variety of written products, ranging from in-depth articles on technical matters to brief workforce communications on subjects like promotion announcements or policy changes.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Write and edit communication materials, including news articles, interviews, and workforce announcements
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to extract information for relevant and interesting communications
  • Translate complex topics into written communications that are accessible and understandable by non-technical individuals
  • Recommend new written communication products that will enhance the reputation of the organization's public-facing image
  • Ensure publication deadlines are met for all communication materials
  • Review and edit others' products for publication
  • Occasionally assist with the team's content management activities as a back-up for other team members
  • Support workforce events, like all-hands and offsites, by taking notes, serving as a mic runner, checking badges, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum of 11 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 9 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with PhD

 

Required:

  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
  • Ability to translate technical information into accessible and engaging content
  • Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts
  • Experience writing for executive audiences
  • Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have active TS/SCI w/poly

Desired:

  • Must possess experience authoring and editing formal disseminated intelligence products
  • Experience conducting interviews and editing interview material into compelling and engaging written content
  • Knowledge of content management systems such as Joomla or WordPress
  • Experience developing and implementing successful communication strategies
  • Ability to improve the communication acumen of personnel within the office via constructive feedback, coaching, and training

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
