Peraton is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to support a secure enterprise environment within a high-visibility classified IT program. This role involves engineering and maintaining Microsoft-based systems, virtualized environments, VDI infrastructure, and critical network services in a hybrid cloud and on-prem datacenter ecosystem.
This position requires a strong technical foundation in server administration, virtualization technologies, RMF compliance, and cyber-hardening standards such as STIGs. You will work alongside cross-functional IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of enterprise systems supporting national defense missions.
Engineer, install, and optimize Microsoft server operating systems in a secure enterprise environment.
Provision, manage, and maintain virtualized environments and virtual machines (VMs).
Support and configure VDI infrastructure, ensuring user accessibility and system efficiency.
Administer core network services, including DNS and DHCP.
Develop, apply, and troubleshoot Group Policies (GPOs) to enforce system configurations.
Perform daily system monitoring, including log reviews, scheduled job verifications (e.g., backups), and system health checks.
Collaborate with IT teams on implementation, change coordination, and security control management.
Support Microsoft SQL Server administration and optimization.
Apply and review Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and support documentation.
Create and maintain RMF-compliant security documentation and policy procedures.
Design and implement cybersecurity controls to protect systems from threats and vulnerabilities.
Education & Experience:
BS with 8 years, MS with 6 years, PhD with 3 years, OR
Additional 4+ years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Security Clearance:
TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI
Certifications:
Must possess a current DoD 8570.1-M/8140 IAT or IAM Level III certification (e.g., CASP+, CISSP, CCSP)
Technical Skills & Experience:
Background in infrastructure/datacenter engineering across physical and virtual platforms
Experience supporting one or more OS platforms: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, or AIX
Proficiency in virtualization and cloud technologies, such as:
VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite
Hybrid cloud integrations with DoD or GovCloud environments
Familiarity with engineering disciplines such as:
Storage Engineering (HPE SAN)
Network Engineering (Cisco LAN/WAN, SDN)
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering
Professional-level certifications in Linux, VMware, Networking, Storage, or Cloud platforms
ITIL v4 Foundation Certification
Experience working in classified or DoD environments and applying RMF/NIST guidelines
