Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an IT Engineer for the Department of Defense (DoD) DMDC Enterprise Law Enforcement Support Services (ELEs2) program.
 
The IT Engineer responsible for application server maintenance ensures the continuous, secure, and optimal operation of mission-critical systems that support Facial Recognition. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of application servers—from initial configuration and deployment to routine monitoring, patching, and performance tuning—in accordance with industry best practices and security standards. Works closely with software development, cybersecurity, and database administration teams, the IT Engineer team maintains server environments that host web-based applications, middleware, and backend services. This includes applying system updates and security patches, configuring application services, and implementing logging and monitoring solutions to detect and resolve issues proactively. IT Engineer Responsibilities include:
 
  • Install, configure, and maintain application servers to support enterprise and mission-critical software systems.
  • Apply security patches, system updates, and software upgrades in accordance with organizational policies and compliance standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53).
  • Monitor server performance, logs, and resource usage to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues, coordinating with development and database teams as needed.
  • Implement and maintain system backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Manage user access, authentication settings, and server-level permissions in accordance with security requirements.
  • Support middleware components, service configurations, and application runtime environments (e.g., IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic).
  • Maintain server documentation, configuration baselines, and change control records.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to perform vulnerability scans and remediate identified risks.
  • Provide technical support during deployments, outages, or escalations involving hosted applications and services.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain biometric systems and tools
  • Support integration of fingerprint and facial recognition platforms
  • Prepare for migration to cloud platforms

Qualifications

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • DoD 8570 certs
  • Able to obtain TS/SCI clearance 
  • Biometric platform knowledge
  • Cloud and on-premise systems experience
  • AWS or Azure certification (for cloud migration readiness)
  • Able to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
