Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Engineer to support our critical Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Freedom Center in Herndon, VA.. In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the DSS-2A switch, along with all associated peripheral equipment, including COMSEC and supporting infrastructure. Location: On-site position located in Herndon, VA. 
Schedule: Candidates must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends. The position will transition to night shifts following onboarding and training.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Provides on-site support at the main location and remote support to 4 remote sites.
  • Maintains, monitors, and modifies the DRSN and its sub-systems for continuous operation IAW system specific manufacturer manuals, and current DoD and Air Force Instructions.
  • Supports maintenance and monitoring activities, switch operations and administration, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault isolation, and service restoration.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment failures across the entire communication pathway from end-user devices to the commercial DEMARC.
  • Conducts scheduled, unscheduled, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Provides technical and operational support to end-users.
  • Manages hardware and software IAW DISA and Raytheon technical manuals.
  • Performs periodic re-key of cryptographic equipment.
  • Responds to end user requests in a timely and professional manner, providing excellent customer service.
  • Monitor system alarms and respond accordingly when an issue arises.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 10 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years relevant experience.  
  • Must have an Active TS/SCI security clearance and currently hold a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations and Maintenance (O&M).
  • Experience in a help desk or customer support environment.
  • Experience with Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) processes and standards.
  • Successfully completed the Command and Control Switching Systems (CCSS) Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations & Maintenance Course via Ft Huachuca.
  • DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification required.
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
  • Must be available and willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant DHS focused experience.
  • Experience running and/or managing projects.
  • Able to plan and prioritize team workload to ensure objectives are achieved on time.
  • Experience balancing multiple tasks and prioritizing as required.
  • Ability to contribute to a much larger team ensuring Mission Critical Facilities issues and customer requests are met in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, identify opportunities and develop new ideas.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
