Responsibilities

Peraton requires Virtualization Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3.  Positions are located at the SOCOM Headquarters at MacDill, AFB FL, and at the TSOC and Component locations in the United States and abroad. 

 

This position is located at Fort Bragg, NC.  

 

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract

(SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide

USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs),

and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network

Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and

common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

 

The Virtualization Engineer performs tier three systems support in accordance with the SIE OPORD. The Virtualization Engineer provides operational support and technical expertise for the engineering, deployment and O&M of hyper converged server and storage solutions including but not limited to Nutanix, Dell, and VMware. The job duties include daily management of the virtualization environment, providing day-to-day support for VDI clients. The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the virtual machine lifecycle management; ensuring virtualization software suite is kept updated and secure; assisting with virtualization related problem resolution; actively engaging in virtualization capacity planning; troubleshooting issues with virtualization guest operating systems—specifically Linux and Windows; and serving as a point of contact for work requests related to the virtualization environment. The ability to communicate with technical and non-technical users also is essential. Continually transition knowledge to the government staff through training and assistance on how to use the technology using industry best practices.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Engineering and leading the enterprise virtual infrastructure and system software components
  • Performing end-user support requiring System Engineer Subject Matter Expertise support
  • Recommending upgrades to and replacements for hardware and software utilized by VDI clients
  • Establishing and documenting baselines to measure and manage the capacity and performance of the enterprise network
  • Integrating, testing, and verifying VDI client hardware and software with USSOCOM’s VDI standard client image
  • Collaborating with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on technical support systems’ hardware and software and making recommendations regarding upgrades or changes based on industry best practices and emerging trends
  • Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A DoD security clearance at the TS/SCI level is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 12 years with AS/AA; Minimum of 8 years with MS/MA, or High School Diploma and 14 years of experience
  • DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) required

      Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working interactively with supported users and resolving VDI related issues.
  • Experience in implementing and supporting zero-clinet technology, VMware vSphere, Hypervisor Management, Active Directory, GPO Management and Virtual Desktop Infastructure deployments.
  • VMware Horizon View systems implementation experience including:
    • Horizon View
    • VMware vSphere ESXi experience on Microsoft Windows 7, 10
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Nutanix AOX
    • Windows PowerShell

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
