Peraton is seeking a skilled System Administrator to join our team. Key responsibilities include:
Triage and manage support tickets submitted through Jira Service Desk, ensuring timely resolution of user-reported issues.
Collaborate across teams to escalate or coordinate issue resolution with other technical groups or stakeholders.
Lead system maintenance tasks, including patching and upgrades during scheduled after-hours windows (typically 1–2 times per month; may vary based on mission requirements).
Establish and manage robust backup solutions for critical systems and data.
Configure and maintain advanced networking components and troubleshoot network-related issues with expert-level proficiency.
Ensure system security by maintaining up-to-date security software and configurations in accordance with compliance standards.
Respond to and resolve system or application issues reported by users, partners, or leadership.
Create and maintain documentation to promote knowledge sharing, reduce knowledge silos, and lower operational risk ("bus/lottery factor").
Draft proposals for system changes, enhancements, or upgrades for review by technical leadership and government stakeholders.
Document resolutions and changes in Jira tickets and internal Confluence wiki to enable efficient response to future occurrences.
15+ years of experience as a System Administrator supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution (an additional five years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree)
Demonstrated ability to work independently as the sole System Administrator on a mission-critical team
Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph
DoD 8570 compliance required; Security+ certification preferred (higher-level certifications may be required depending on mission)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to assess and resolve issues quickly
Deep expertise in Linux or Windows system administration (Linux preferred)
Hands-on experience with identity and authentication services such as Active Directory, SSSD, or Keycloak
Experience managing virtualized environments in both on-prem and cloud infrastructures
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and Terraform
Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or other relevant languages
Solid understanding of networking concepts and configuration practices
Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence for task tracking and documentation
