Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineering Senior Advisor to join Peraton’s Space Communications and Services organization providing systems engineering support/leadership across the portfolio to include the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS).  JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions.  The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation’s economy and protects life and property. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support contract-wide activities in all aspects of systems engineering on the LGSS program (e.g., requirements management; engineering artifacts; integration and test; verification and test) focused on developing and managing formal test activities for the LGSS program.
  • Support requirements readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports
  • Support business reviews from a systems engineering and operations perspective in all phases of the new business lifecycle.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing and efficient use of resources.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the Requirements Lifecycle.
  • Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment.
  • Support and be familiar with architectural development of the ground system.
  • Support Peraton initiatives in the areas systems engineering and operations of space/ground systems across the NOAA enterprise.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Min 12 years with BS/BA, Min 10 years with MS/MA, Min 7 years with PhD
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Min 6-10 years of JPSS/Consolidated Ground System experience in an Engineering Discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to foster strong relationships with coworkers and vendors.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Background level understanding of Cloud Services
  • Extensive experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Systems Engineering Tools (e.g., Rational DOORS)
  • Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, Bitbucket, Git, etc.
  • Familiar with CAMEO (or related) architecture Design Tools that support Models Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Familiar with working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to dynamically tailor communications effectively to different levels of the organization
  • Preference to have an existing public trust clearance.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
