Overview:

 

Peraton is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Systems Administrator to join our high-impact Cyber Intelligence team in Laurel, MD. If you thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and have a passion for working with cutting-edge cloud and distributed systems technologies, this is your opportunity to make a real difference.

As a key member of our infrastructure team, you’ll play a vital role in building, maintaining, and securing large-scale distributed cloud environments that support national security operations. This position combines deep Linux system administration knowledge, cloud expertise, and the ability to automate, monitor, and troubleshoot across complex architectures.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and administer large distributed systems across multiple clusters (minimum 60 nodes per site and at least three racks of equipment).

  • Maintain and optimize core Linux OS components and services (DHCP, DNS, TFTP) and manage LDAP-based user authentication.

  • Diagnose and resolve system issues across enterprise-scale cloud environments.

  • Script and automate tasks using languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.

  • Implement, monitor, and enhance data storage and retrieval using technologies like Hadoop, Cassandra, Scality, Swift, Gluster, Lustre, GPFS, or Amazon S3.

  • Utilize configuration management and orchestration tools including Puppet, Ansible, SALT, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Manage SSH tunneling protocols and dynamic SOCKS proxies, leveraging tools like rsync, pdsh, pdcp, and WinSCP.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of AWS Cloud Architecture, leveraging AWS SDKs and APIs.

  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams and apply experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to support advanced analytics capabilities.

  • Strong foundational understanding of network concepts: VLANs, Layer 2/3 switches, port channel bonding.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based system administration.

  • Proven expertise in monitoring and maintaining highly available distributed systems.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph is required
  • Seven years experience as a Systems Administrator with solid understanding and working knowledge of core Linux operating system components is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or another related technical field is required (Note: Four additional years of experience can be substituted in leue of having a degree)
  • 8570 IAT Level I​ or higher (preferably Security+) is required and must be obtained prior to starting
  • One of the following certifications is also required prior to starting; AWS Certified SysOps Administrator---Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
