Data Center Systems Administrator

Peraton – Citizens Security & Public Services, USCG Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program

Serve as a key member of the US Coast Guard IMS program, supporting IT infrastructure modernization and managed services to enhance mission execution and support. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with clients, vendors, management, and IT teams to design, install, configure, and maintain servers, networking appliances, and data center infrastructure.

• Monitor and manage systems to ensure compliance with standards and maximize availability.

• Analyze infrastructure performance, conduct cost-benefit assessments, and implement quality control measures.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues promptly.

• Support warranty and vendor maintenance activities.

• Participate in on-call rotation to provide onsite support at the Alexandria, VA Data Center.

• Optimize workflows and physical connectivity to improve system efficiency and project outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or High School Diploma/equivalent with 9 years of experience

• U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance

• CompTIA Security+ Certification required

• Experience in network cabling installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

• Solid understanding of networking principles (OSI model, TCP/IP)

• Proficient in Windows and/or Linux installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

• Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, VirtualBox)

• Experience with system performance monitoring and reliability assurance

• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, command line, or similar)

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities

• Ability to safely lift and handle objects up to 70 lbs
