R&D Electrical Engineer

Location:  This is a full time onsite position in West Bethesda, MD.

Peraton is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineer to work directly with our Navy customers on developing R&D systems for use onboard submarines.  In this position, you will be working within a government-contractor team on the development, integration, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of research and development electronic systems used during naval vessel sea trials.

Responsibilities include the following: 

• Development of analog and digital circuitry for processing of waveforms received and transmitted via underwater transducers. Electronic systems, components, or circuits are often used in rugged, compact equipment able to be carried on to a submarine.
• You will be installing, checking out, operating and uninstalling sophisticated modular electronic systems for tracking naval test vessels.
• You will be evaluating operational systems and recommending design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
• You will be using National Instruments data acquisition devices and LabVIEW software, including graphical user interfaces, to develop and troubleshoot high-precision systems for test vessel tracking and position monitoring.

Travel to naval bases and aboard naval ship will be required, up to 20%, including lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds in weight, working in confined spaces, and climbing vertical ladders.

Electrical Engineering or closely related degree required.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• An active DoD Secret clearance.
• Must have demonstrable proficiency with troubleshooting electronic and electrical systems.
• Must be internally motivated, having a “self-starter” type personality.
• The successful candidate will be reliable and can be trusted to work consistently on tasks without close supervision, individually, or as part of a small team.
