Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a senior Deputy Program Manager with an understanding of NASA’s Near Space Network to support the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract.  The position focus will be on program execution, customer engagement, and business growth for all operations, maintenance, and sustainment (OM&S) work under the SENSE contract.

 

As prime contractor on the NASA SENSE contract, Peraton is responsible for the development, operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s Near Space Network which comprises the Space Relay and Direct to Earth elements. In this position, you will have leadership responsibility for schedule, cost, and technical performance for the OM&S portion of a large, complex and diverse program.

 

We are seeking qualified candidates that bring leadership and experience to ensure innovative, efficient, and mission-effective space communications and navigation services and solutions for launch vehicles, robotic, and human space flight missions.  The position drives innovation and modernization and ensures that the program team is leaning forward in enabling new services and capabilities to align with NASA’s focus on centralized network management services, including commercially provided space communications. 

 

This position will be a hybrid of both remote telework and on-site work at either Greenbelt, MD or White Sands, NM, with some travel to other NASA locations as needed.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Direct and monitor all OM&S work within the scope, goals, milestones and deliverables to meet/exceed customer requirements.  Determine work schedules, set priorities and ensure all processes and procedures are performed in support of work activities.
  • Manage program OM&S resources at various geographical sites with the responsibility for overall financial, technical, schedule, and contractual performance, quality control, and customer satisfaction
  • Proactively manage changes in scope, implement processes to quickly and effectively respond to task orders, identify potential risks, develop solutions, devise contingency plans, and communicate success criteria.
  • Maintain and promote collaborative customer relationships. Coordinate task orders with customer representatives. Keep the customer informed on status and progress of assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate program reviews and direct the preparation of status and progress reports.
  • Establish and monitor financial controls to adhere to program budgets. Maintain program cost estimates and accounting records. Monitor budget expenditures and support the preparation of budget plans and justifications.

Qualifications

Require Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Software, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field.
  • Relative Work Experience: Minimum of 15 years of government contracting experience with significant emphasis in the NASA community.
  • Experience managing large ($50M plus) projects/programs with respect to cost, schedule, and technical performance, and risk.
  • Working knowledge of large satellite ground station OM&S, mission services integration activities, IT security, and cloud/virtual networks.
  • Excellent management, communication, organizational, and motivational skills.
  • Community recognized reputation for technical excellence, leadership, customer focus, and business growth.
  • Security clearance: This position requires the candidate to have and maintain an active Secret security clearance. An Interim Secret clearance is acceptable to start.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Twenty or more years of government industry experience including 5+ years of experience working with NASA and a deep understanding of NASA’s Near Space Network systems, standards, policies and procedures for execution and operations of their missions is highly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or management.
  • Experience with large software engineering, integration, launch, operations, maintenance, IT security, and sustainment efforts
  • Excellent business development acumen with proven success.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
