Responsibilities

Peraton requires an IT Specialist to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3.  The position is located at SOCOM in the National Capitol Region, District of Columbia.  

 

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

 

The IT Specialist performs Tier one and two network support in accordance with the SIE OPORD. This position provides administration of network and communications systems, including, but not limited to, IT Specialist systems. The IT Specialist must have solid technical skills, with experience in a variety of network protocols, software, and hardware involved in IT Specialist operations. This position requires strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities. The IT Specialist must have comprehensive knowledge of Government hardware, software, and network components. The Administrator is responsible for creating monitoring reports and managing equipment logs, as well as ensuring the functionality of links. This position coordinates network administration and performance requirements with other members of the networking team as well as identifies, analyzes, and documents long-range requirements, and administers resources related to the enterprise network. The IT Specialist shall prepare technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths required for complete solutions. The IT Specialist is required to research applicable standards and requirements documents to assure network compliance. The IT Specialist plans for and provide reasonable responsiveness in terms of network performance (e.g., availability, reliability, and throughput). This position prepares activity and progress reports for the Government regarding network performance initiatives. This position will provide full lifecycle support for LAN and WAN infrastructures. The IT Specialist shall follow the designated network standards for the design, installation, and maintenance of IT infrastructures.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supports three locations: DTRA, Crystal City, and the Pentagon Washington Office, with the flexibility to work at any of these sites for extended periods.
  • Assist with supporting the receipt, custody, issue, safeguarding, accounting for, and, when necessary, the destruction or COMSEC material.
  • Providing incident response using multiple software applications, including Remedy and JIRA (U).
  • Assist with shipping cryptographic products and key materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Using the Distributed Information Security (INFOSEC) Accounting System (DIAS).
  • Knowledge of In-Line network Encryption (INE) device to include venders General Dynamics (GD), ViaSat, Raytheon.
  • High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) Manager.
  • Add and remove In-Line Encryption device in KG Manager tool
  • Update IOS software on SIE In-Line Encryption devices
  • Performing Field Tamper Recovery (FTR), upgrading In-Line Encryption device firmware, and ensuring the interoperability of firmware versions between enterprise In-Line Encryption devices.
  • The installation, deployment, and the use of In-Line Encryption devices as management tools like GEM One, Vine, or CHIMERA
  • Provide training and COMSEC oversight to local and remote site personnel for all INE from GD, ViaSat, and Raytheon. Which may include SKL and Secure Communication device for VoIP or cell phone.
  • Performing hands-on installation, maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting of In-Line Encryption device as required
  • Providing incident response using multiple software applications, including Remedy.
  • Providing installation, tuning, testing, operating, monitoring, upgrading, patching, break/fix, defense, and management of WAN and LAN routing and switching infrastructure hardware and software including network hardware and software.
  • Planning, designing, engineering, configuring, installing, operating, maintaining, defending, troubleshooting, and repairing LAN/WAN capabilities, including point-to-point circuits, satellite connectivity, dedicated Internet connections, and broadband Internet connections including necessary additions and changes to associated routers, switches, and encryption devices.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop and laptop PCs, mobile devices, and peripherals, such as printers.
  • Installing and configuring application and operating system software and upgrades.
  • Multiple device configuration including personal device support and configuration.
  • Removing old equipment and performing data migration to new machines.
  • Installing, maintaining, and assessing current and future telecommunications systems and equipment.
  • Installing new cable/fiber. Terminating and testing new cable/fiber. Testing and troubleshooting faulty cable/fiber.
  • Installing operating system software, patches, and upgrades.
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring operating system software and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving LAN/WAN performance, connectivity, and related network problems.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining VTC endpoints.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing hardware and network connectivity issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years with BS/BA, 9 years with no degree.
  • A DoD security clearance at the TS/SCI level is required.
  • At least 5 years of previous experience working in IT related specialties.
  • DoDD 8570 01-M IAT II AND CCNA OR Microsoft 365 Certified Modern Desktop Administrator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of previous hands-on experience working with COMSEC

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
