Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems / RF Engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customers as part of a highly talented, highly motivated and high-performing team. As part of the Metroplex program within our Space Systems & Solutions (SSS) business unit, you will join a very talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team with the design, development, integration, test and deployment of complex systems, contributing to mission success for a variety of tenant stakeholders.  Join us and be part of the next generation of innovators as we blaze a trail forward for our profession and company. 

 

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with DoD customer and stakeholders throughout system lifecycle in development, integration & test, deployment, and operations of a highly sophisticated ground system architecture
  • Lead architecture, design, & integration of cloud-based mission-critical, highly available, high-performance next-generation satellite ground systems in a team-oriented environment
  • Develop systems engineering-related documentation to include operational concept, requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans
  • Conduct system planning and design for expansion of resources to meet program needs
  • Support system enterprise-wide development and operation testing as well as tenant integration, testing and launch-based activities
  • Support ground system related trade studies, as requested

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR Master's degree in science, engineering, or related field with 6+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field. Four (4) years of additional experience in a Systems Engineering related field may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. 
  • Experience in system integration and testing, and system configuration of virtualized Command and Telemetry Front-End Processors (FEP) and network gateways used in satellite communications
  • Direct experience with satellite ground systems operations and/or United States Space Force Satellite Control Network (SCN – formerly AFSCN)
  • Experience with digitized signal transport over IP networks
  • Experience with Type 1 cryptographic devices/ appliances
  • Experience working with Windows-based and LINUX operating systems, scripting languages for task automation, and system configuration automation software
  • Experience with distributed computing technologies
  • Knowledge of satellite communication modems and waveforms
  • Demonstrated experience working with virtualized infrastructures such as VMWare, Citrix, KVM, or RHEV

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management, the customer and tenants across DoD
  • Detail/ process oriented, can multi-task, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Eager to learn about new technologies and embrace innovation
  • Ability to express yourself confidently, concisely, and accurately through written and oral communications
  • Experience in designing, developing, and integrating digitized signal transport over IP network architectures
  • Experience with control and status of parabolic and phased array antenna ground stations
  • Experience with multi-vendor COTS FEP/gateway (appliance and virtual) satellite communications integration. Example: Bookending an IP network with two different vendor COTS gateways
  • Experience performing technical evaluations of potential products for integration into the IT enterprise
  • Operating System administration skills for Red Hat Enterprise Linux include building systems up from bare metal, performing software package installation, operating system, and application troubleshooting, and implementing security hardening

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
