Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Networking Team Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/ Transportation Security Administration (TSA) customer. This individual will provide technical and programmatic information assurance services to internal and external customers in support of network and information security systems. This position is responsible for leading the engineering team for network operations and maintenance. The network engineer lead is responsible for supporting the operations and maintenance of the customer’s networking infrastructure, assisting in the deployment, operations, and maintenance of the customer’s overall infrastructure, and providing subject matter expertise. 

 

Must be able to periodically provide after-hours and weekend support. 

  

Day to Day Work Responsibilities: 

  • Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.  
  • Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.  
  • Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.  
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.  
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.  
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.  
  • Translate high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop lower-level detailed requirements.  
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.  
  • Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.  
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements. 
  • Designs, develops, and implements security requirements within an organization’s business processes.  
  • Prepares security test and evaluation plans.  
  • Provides certification and accreditation support in the development of security and contingency plans and conducts complex risk and vulnerability assessments.  
  • Develops, tests, and integrates computer and network security tools.  
  • Secures system configurations and installs security tools, scans systems to determine compliance and report results and evaluates products and various aspects of system administration.  
  • Conducts security program audits and develops solutions to lessen identified risks.  
  • Provides information assurance support for the development and implementation of security architectures to meet new and evolving security requirements.  
  • Aids in computer incident investigations.  
  • Performs vulnerability assessments including development of risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Delivers systems engineering services and expertise for voice, video, data, and transmission networks. 
  • Provides operations management and maintenance of the customer’s networking infrastructure pertinent to load balancing, server connectivity, and maintenance of the production and test environments. 
  • Review the customer's network and practices looking for opportunities to enhance network functionality, performance, and reliability by utilizing the server load balancing platform. 
  • Maintains a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks. 
  • Monitor for opportunities to enhance the customer network/system performance or reliability. 
  • Perform on-going management of network, server load balancing, server installations, and upgrade projects. 
  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems.  
  • Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support. 
  • Maintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and computer hardware and software technology. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience or Masters degree and 3 years of experience or Associates Degree and 7 years of experience or High School diploma and 9 years of experience.  
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain / maintain an EOD Public Trust clearance.  
  • Experience and ability to triage infrastructure and application incidents and events for effective resolution. 
  • Experience with Active Directory accounts and server management and monitoring. 
  • Experience in preparing documentation and briefings for leadership in a concise and effective manner. 
  • Experience with server administration: Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Linux (RHEL), SharePoint. 
  • Experience with monitoring and management tools such as Solarwinds, MS SCOM. 
  • Experience with enterprise/datacenter Service Desk Operations including use of a service management tool (Remedy preferred). 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong writing and communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Excellent teamwork skills. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and use of judgment. 
  • Knowledge of Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, and Palo Alto Networks firewalls. 
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL), routing and switching (OSPF, BGP), and network security principles. 
  • Experience with network segmentation, DMZ, intrusion prevention, and threat detection. 
  • Experience with firewall configuration and policy design, including traffic filtering, NAT, and access control. 
  • Familiarity with security technologies such as IDS/IPS, SIEM systems, and network monitoring tools. 
  • Hands-on experience with advanced troubleshooting, log analysis, and security incident response. 
  • Experience in Wintel operations and support for Windows 2019, Windows 2016 and Windows 2012. 
  • Possess an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 certification or the ability to obtain within one month.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
