Responsibilities

Join our dynamic Peraton Space Technology Services Team on site, at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), as our ETIS Quality Engineer.  You will be a key contributor on our Environmental Test and Integration Services (ETIS) contract as part of the talented team. You have the unique opportunity to be engaged in multiple exciting space projects integrated and tested in the GSFC state-of-the-art facilities.  You will work to ensure compliance to NASA, GSFC and Program specific requirements.   You will work on site at GSFC with our ETIS employees (Peraton, our ETIS teammates and specialty subcontractors) to resolve quality-related issues and mitigate risk.  Ensure applicable statutory, regulatory, program and NASA requirements are applied to the design, integration, test, and operation of flight hardware.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and create ETIS III practices, procedures and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce program risk.
  • Document Control as it relates to ETIS III specific processes.
  • Interpret Goddard Space Flight Facility (GSFC) customer technical and mission assurance requirements, ensuring integration to program plans, specifications, and product drawings as well as verification of implementation.
  • Participate in discrepancy reviews, failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations.
  • Represent ETIS III Quality at various reviews:  Readiness Reviews, Corrective Action, Material Review Board & Failure Review Board (MRB/FRB)
  • Support tracking and reporting metrics, specific risk issues.
  • Hands on engagement is required in support of integration and test activities, critical lift operations, visual inspections, and process compliance.
  • Communicates at all levels within the organization, our teammates, customer representatives and contractors.
  • Performs internal audits for ETIS III Program compliance to the standards and GSFC customer requirements.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that allow for continuous improvement.
  • Provides input and support during AS9100/ISO 9001 audits.
  • Calibration Lab oversight.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned to achieve program milestones.

 

Site Location:  Goddard Space Flight Facility, Greenbelt Maryland

NASA Standard schedule: a traditional work schedule, established primarily for program and mission goals, and has a basic work requirement of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, worked over 5 workdays. The hours for an employee to report are generally the business hours for the Center unless support is required to meet program requirements.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related discipline and 5+ years of experience is required in Quality Engineering, aerospace or other related field which has equipped you with the competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.  In lieu of degree 9+ years of quality experience. 
  • Proficient in M/S Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Knowledge in Visio, and Project

Must be able to obtain a NASA PIV badge and pass a background check and initial drug screening. US Citizen required 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Costpoint experience 
  • Experience working on NASA GSFC contracts
  • Experience with AS9100/IS09001 Quality Management systems
  • Experience with Visual and Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with industry workmanship standards; NASA, MIL, NAS, IPC
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations
  • Knowledge of calibration equipment, blueprints, schematics, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical design requirements and specifications
  • Experience planning and conducting internal audits
  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics
  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 and Z540 Calibration Standards

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
