Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a ServiceNow Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The candidate will support the day-to-day operations and maintenance (O&M) of the ServiceNow platform. This role involves system administration, troubleshooting, enhancements, and ensuring platform stability to support IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and other ServiceNow modules. The ideal candidate will have experience in ServiceNow administration, development, and workflow automation, with a focus on keeping the platform optimized, secure, and aligned with business needs.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform daily system health checks, monitoring performance, and addressing platform issues proactively.
  • Administer and maintain ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, and other installed modules.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, roles, and groups to ensure proper access control.
  • Perform incident resolution, request fulfillment, and routine platform maintenance tasks.
  • Apply ServiceNow patches, upgrades, and hotfixes, ensuring system stability and security compliance.
  • Diagnose and resolve ServiceNow-related issues, working with end users and IT teams to address functional problems.
  • Investigate workflow failures, automation errors, and integration issues to minimize system downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective measures for recurring problems.
  • Modify and maintain ServiceNow configurations, including UI policies, business rules, workflows, and service catalogs.
  • Assist with form customizations, reports, dashboards, and notifications to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Support development efforts for enhancements, automation scripts, and integrations as required.
  • Ensure that ServiceNow configuration and development align with ITIL best practices and business requirements.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot integrations with third-party tools, including Active Directory, monitoring solutions, and external APIs.
  • Assist in automation of routine tasks using ServiceNow Flow Designer, REST APIs, or scripting.
  • Support ongoing integration with IT operations, security, and business applications.
  • Maintain ServiceNow documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration records.
  • Ensure platform compliance with security policies, industry standards, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement access controls and governance policies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience or a Masters degree and 0 years of experience or a High School diploma and 6 years of experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow administration and support. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a EOD Public Trust. 
  • Strong expertise in IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and ServiceNow workflows.
  • Experience troubleshooting ServiceNow issues, performance tuning, and error resolution.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow platform administration, including user management, role-based access control (RBAC), and security settings.
  • Basic experience with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, or Flow Designer automation).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow upgrades, patch management, and instance cloning.
  • Experience working with CMDB, Service Catalog, Change Management, and Incident Management modules.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with end users, IT teams, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) (strongly preferred).
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – ITSM, ITOM, or related module.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (for ITSM best practices, must obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Orchestration, or Automation.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow integrations (REST API, SOAP, MID Server, etc.).
  • Basic familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and IT security principles.

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
