Responsibilities

 

Peraton is seeking a Website Designer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future of technology and public health.  This position will become part of Peraton’s team that supports the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

 

The qualified applicant will provide web production support which includes daily posting and updating of content, materials, and web pages to internal and external-facing web sites.  The applicant will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining content-based websites; applying current agency and team standards; developing applicable documentation; communicating status to appropriate personnel; providing quality work; and working independently within a team environment.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leverages experience to offer suggestions on information architecture, web content and layout, user experience, search engine optimization, Section 508 compliance, and use of graphics, mobile optimization, and other web best practices.
  • Performs web design and production tasks using CDC’s custom Web Content Management System, including the Digital First Editor (DFE), and/or SharePoint.
  • Leverages the current CDC templates, including configuration of associated files (navigation, header, footer, etc.) and the DFE Content Design Guide.
  • Creates custom data visualization code using the CDC Open Visualization Editor (COVE).
  • Makes use of HTML, XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery programming languages as needed.
  • Creates and optimizes Section 508 compliant images and PDFs for the web using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat).
  • Creates, edits and performs QA reviews of newsletters with Adobe Campaign.
  • Performs QA reviews and all applicable testing before returning to client for final review, approval, and clearance. Performs cross-browser testing and follows all internal approval and clearance processes before posting pages.
  • Knows and continues to keep up to date on Section 508 accessibility requirements and ensures all web pages and web files are compliant.
  • Attends web team meetings and provides valuable input and maintains strong, positive team and client relations. Represents team in cross-organizational workgroups, communities of practice, project teams, etc.
  • Uses MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) as needed.

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of demonstrated proficiency in website development and maintenance.
  • 4 years of experience in Website Programming – HTML, XHTML, XML, HTML5, CSS.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat.
  • Knowledgeable of Section 508 requirements and website accessibility.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and skilled in quality assurance of output.
  • Demonstrated experience with meeting deadlines with both timeliness and quality and with balancing and prioritizing work across multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Agency clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting CDC web content, including health statistics and health survey data.
  • Experience using CDC Web Content Management Systems (WCMS), Digital First Editor (DFE), and custom Data Visualizations.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and web analytics (e.g., Adobe Analytics).
  • Experience in Graphic Design - Photoshop, Illustrator. and remediating Section 508 compliant sites, documents, and graphics.
  • Experience using Beyond Compare or other file transfer software.
  • Experience with SharePoint (as a user).

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
