Liferay/Ansible Software Engineer-Remote

Peraton is seeking a remote Software Developer with knowledge of some or all our technology stack to join our team supporting MITRE located in McLean, VA. This stack includes:

• Java (OSGi) for Jira/Liferay integration
• Go for automation
• Kubernetes/Docker/Podman for runtime
• Ansible for deployment
• Gitlab for CI/CD

As a member of the MITRE team, you will support the men and women charged with analyzing data used to keep our national airspace safe. The selected individual in this role will serve as a team member providing software development and maintenance of an existing technology stack in short sprint cycles.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following tasks:

- Maintaining and upgrading Liferay and Jira instances

- Design, develop, and implement custom software capabilities for a variety of legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight

- Act as a member of a product team supporting teammates and collaborating with a do what it takes attitude to ensure  product and team success

- Provide improvements to the product(s) being supported

- Actively participate in release and sprint planning

- Ensure product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives

- Provide mentoring to junior members of the team

Basic Qualifications:

• 5 years with BS/BA, 3 years with MS/MA, or 9 yrs of relevant professional experience may have considered in lieu of degree.
• Must have Liferay 7.x and Ansible work experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of technical experience with software design, development and implementation utilizing Java, Kubernetes, Linux, SQL/mySQL, Maven and Go.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience developing RESTful web services utilizing SpringBoot.
• Ability to obtain an FAA public trust clearance.
• US Citizenship or Green Card holder

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 8 years of related professional experience OR Master’s Degree and 5 years of related professional experience
• Experience with Java (preferably OSGi as well), JUnit, Docker, Podman, JSON, yaml, XML, Python, and Linux shell scripting.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Agile software development experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
