Responsibilities

The Peraton Proposal Center has a great opportunity for a highly talented Strategic Proposal Writer with proven experience working with pursuit teams on Content Planning and developing annotated outlines that result in creating compliant and compelling proposal narrative in response to Federal Government solicitations. This position is based in Herndon, VA with the flexibility of a remote work schedule, and will report directly to the Director of Proposal Content.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports pursuit teams in Content Planning and developing compliant annotated outlines that direct writers to create compelling narrative to answer how we will deliver and the customer benefits of our solution for RFPs, RFIs, Task Orders, Offering Descriptions, and other client-facing responses.
  • Engages with Capture Manager, Proposal Manager, Lead Solution Architect, BDE, and other pursuit team members to develop an annotated outline that allows corporate/sector leadership to approve so writers can be directed to develop compliant/compelling narrative.
  • Works with writers – contractors, account team members, etc. – to develop content that is highly scored, clearly mapping our proposed solution and customer benefits to the solicitation instructions and evaluation criteria.
  • Substantively edits proposal content to streamline prose, improve focus, sharpen structure, and reduce word count (one-voice or technical edit).
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to describe solutions, methods and complex business and technical concepts that answer how we will deliver and the benefits to the customer.
  • Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of the proposal writing community regarding processes, tools, and templates.
  • Works with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, to facilitate knowledge sharing and improve content development processes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Requires a BA degree or higher, with a minimum of 8+ years of related experience as a Proposal Writer. Additional experience in lieu of education will be considered.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the current Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense FAR (DFAR), DCAA, etc.) and the ability to read and interpret Government Synopsis, Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotes (RFQ) and Solicitations.
  • Must have an In-depth understanding of compliance with all sections of governmental RFPs, experience analyzing RFPs, helping to develop annotated outlines, working with compliance matrices and content-planning storyboards.
  • Must have a working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint or other proposal collaboration tools.
  • Must be local to Northern Virginia and have the ability to work nights and/or weekends if warranted.
  • Active Secret (or higher) security clearance.

  • Must be flexible and open to changing schedules and priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes.
  • Requires excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Must be a team player who can “lead from within,” collaborating with leaders from other areas of the Proposal Center and inspiring pursuit team members to deliver excellent narrative when writing proposal content.
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction, identifying ways to support pursuit team member without having to be directed to do so.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be available for overtime, weekend work, and travel when necessary to support proposal, review, and delivery timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Proven ability to work with/interview Subject Matter Experts to understand and write about complex technical and management approaches.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance or the ability to obtain.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
