Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Security Specialist to join our team at a government facility in Mississippi. The ideal candidate will have a strong physical security background, preferably with experience in law enforcement or the military. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing visitor access, escorting visitors and vendors, and overseeing the secure handling and destruction of sensitive media.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Visitor Access Management: Process Visitor Access requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Escort Duties: Escort vendors and visitors during their onsite visits for maintenance work or meetings, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Media Handling and Destruction: Establish and maintain a chain of custody for sensitive media, including hard drives and tapes. Oversee the secure destruction of these materials.
  • Security Protocol Enforcement: Ensure compliance with all physical security policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Incident Response: Respond to security incidents and emergencies, providing assistance and coordinating with relevant authorities as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other security personnel, facility management, and external vendors to ensure comprehensive security coverage.

This position requires onsite work at our government facility in Mississippi. Remote or telework options are not available.

 

The role may require working outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0 years experience or High school diploma/equivalent and 4 years experience
  • Must have proven experience in physical security, preferably with a background in law enforcement or the military.
  • Security Skills: Strong understanding of security protocols, visitor access management, and media handling procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with visitors, vendors, and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with escorting and security duties.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background: Law enforcement or military background.
  • Certifications: Relevant security certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) are a plus.

Target Salary Range

$39,000 - $62,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
