Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates to supervise the daily activities of a team of IT Service Desk Watch Standers supporting a U.S. Navy facility located in Norfolk, VA. This is a great opportunity for cleared individuals to gain valuable IT supervisory experience working for a team that trains its members to perform system and network functions as a watch stander within a large enterprise environment.

 

What will you do:

  • Ensure that daily tasks, reports, floor checks and other activities are being performed by a team of IT Watch Standers.
  • Manage an IT ticketing systems to ensure that reported cases are documented, escalated and triaged to the appropriate departments.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical system issues.
  • Train team members on best practices and procedures.
  • Work with program management to identify areas of improvement and provide solutions to ensure your team is able to perform all required duties.

What will your team do:

  • Create, update, escalate and triage IT tickets using BMC Remedy, IssueTrak and other ticketing systems. 
  • Perform visual and physical inspections of controlled spaces and IT equipment.
  • Conduct inspections of lighting systems, fire suppression systems, HVAC units, power distribution units for any hazards such as water leaks and building damage.
  • Check and document meters and monitor devices for environmental and status readings.
  • Complete shift turnover checklists.
  • Monitor system and detection alarms.
  • Send email notifications to management and other departments for various system and network issues.
  • Provide escort support to within controlled spaces.
  • Create and edit daily ticket reports.

Candidate must be able to:

  • The candidate must have reliable transportation during inclement weather.
  • The candidate must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance (or an in scope T5 investigation).
  • Be a self-starter that can both work in and lead a team of IT Watch Standers.

 

Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • HS 9 years of experience, BS with 5 years, or MS with 3 years relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS.   
  • Must be able to obtain a Comptia Security+ (or other approved) certification per DOD 8570 policy compliance within 120 days after employment if you do not currently hold this certification.

Desired Experience:

  • A networking, computer, systems or other IT certification.
  • Possess good analytical skills and experience creating and editing reports.
  • Have hands-on experience with cable plant management and network equipment.
  • Leading a team of IT staff such as a help desk, service desk or data center.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
