Responsibilities

Ready for an exciting opportunity to be a part of NGA’s cloud modernization?  We are looking for a Cloud Expert to provide enterprise engineering, architecture, and integration thought leadership to inform the To-Be Architecture for NGA’s Commercial Cloud Enterprise (C2E) environment. 

As a member of the Enterprise Engineering & Architecture Group’s Lead Integrator Team, you will work alongside Enterprise Engineers, Architects, Integrators, the Cloud PMO, and others to provide C2E systems engineering and acquisition integration assistance. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform a variety of enterprise engineering analyses (e.g., C2E Vendor Comparisons of Service Offerings, End-to-End Enterprise Requirements Traceability); drive identification / definition of enterprise requirements; and mature NGA’s Multiple Cloud / Integrated Platform as a Service (iPaaS) Architecture Patterns.
  • As a thought leader, provide valuable insights to the use of iPaaS as a scalable approach to manage and orchestrate a multiple cloud environment, assessing a range of implementation options.
  • Identify and document IT Risks/Issues/Opportunities related to C2E engineering and integration.
  • Provide expert consultation in the development of briefings and engineering products for Agency Engineering and Architecture Review Boards, Readiness Reviews, and various Acquisition Milestones.
  • Engage Mission Partners to understand C2E approach/direction, identifying services/ATOs that NGA can leverage for efficiencies, coordinating dependent systems migrations across agencies and multiple clouds, and documenting the associated architectures.
  • Provide technical input and assessment to address C2E technical and business concerns.
  • Contribute to the development of Technical Planning Guidance (TPG) for items associated with Multiple Cloud to inform the FY POM cycle and build (e.g., FY27-31); perform architecture and requirements traceability and gap analysis; conduct engineering studies to inform the TPG.
  • Lead cross-Organization efforts to remain informed, consistent, and working towards common goals (e.g., Advancing architecture-patterns to the Enterprise (Multiple Cloud, PaaS/iPaaS environment; Establishing the To-Be Architecture (e.g., Design-patterns to support data-centricity in the highly automated (AI/ML) environment of the future); and advancing Digital Acquisitions for C2E and beyond (e.g., Bringing MBSE and the Digital Engineering Environment to our acquisition community).

As a Multi-Cloud Systems Engineer Senior, you must have:

  • Demonstrated expertise with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, and/or Google)
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering thought leadership and planning
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering processes
  • Hands-on experience with architecture artifacts / design patterns
  • Strong communication, written and oral, and customer engagement skills

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
  • Twelve years of technical experience is required. If the 12 years is as a Systems Engineer, it may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five or more years of experience with cloud-based services or technologies.
  • Understanding of object-oriented software with languages like Java, C++, Python or Ruby ideally in SOA applications.
  • Understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
  • Understanding of industry standards for designing and implementing IaaS/PaaS/SaaS in Cloud environments.
  • Experience with modern container orchestration systems, such as: Kubernetes, Mesos, DC/OS, Swarm.
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly.

 

Desired:

  • Experience with Commercial Cloud Enterprise (C2E)
  • Experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, and/or Google) in classified environments
  • Experience with Cloud-to-Cloud Migrations
  • Experience / working knowledge of iPaaS
  • Experience / working knowledge of PaaS – integration with Cloud/Multiple Cloud Environments (e.g., Kubernetes across multiple Vendors)
  • Experience with IC Community Data Centers with knowledge of Joint Architectures and Connectivity between sites
  • Experience / working knowledge of IC Acquisition Pathways and Processes
  • Experience with agile project management tools, such as Jira
  • Cloud Certification(s)
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification(s)

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
