Responsibilities

Directly supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of Technical Editors and a Document Control Administrator. Set goals, priorities, and vision. Maintain overall responsibility for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of CDRL documents to the Customer, as well as the timely publication of internal technical documents for the program. In this player/coach role, participate in the technical editing of documents and the publication process/delivery as needed.

 

Create processes and best practices to include setting guidelines and developing standard procedures for content creation, format, and delivery. Collaborate with engineering and management teams to coordinate documentation schedules and ensure new and existing documents follow established documentation guidelines.

 

Oversee the management of the Data Management Library database as well as the retention of artifacts in the physical library. As the primary liaison with the customer’s Data Management (DM) team, work closely with DM counterpart on CDRL delivery expectations, including due dates and required formats. Participate in weekly management staff meetings, quarterly Program Management Reviews, and ad hoc meetings as necessary. Estimate staffing needs, manage work assignments, approve timecards, interview and recommend candidates for employment, conduct performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.

Qualifications

10 years minimum experience 

 

Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience in Technical Writing/Editing and or a Masters with 6+ years of experience. In addition, at minimum 2 years in a supervisory capacity.4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree

Familiarity with documentation tools and version control software; Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Confluence, Jira, and Subversion preferred.

Ability to grasp technical concepts and make them easily understandable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Excellent time management and project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cross-functional teams

Strong interpersonal relationship skills

Ability to facilitate on-line or face-to-face meetings and brief program and customer leadership

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
