The Senior Cloud Architect position, a crucial role in supporting the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3), is a hands-on cloud engineering position that primarily focuses on migrating workloads to the cloud. The role is pivotal in delivering infrastructure migrations to the cloud for highly sensitive information and maintaining ownership of technical and service elements related to cloud migration projects. The Senior Cloud Architect contributes to all levels of the architecture and maintains technical documentation while consulting team members on secure coding practices and developing a familiarity with new tools and best practices. Drives the roll-out of cloud management platforms, evaluates their performance, and implements enhancements.
Develops and enriches the product portfolio of cloud services and value-added services. Creates solution recommendations to include a Basis of Estimate for cloud services. Evaluate the cost/benefit of cloud vs. virtual private networks vs. dedicated hosting vs. in-house solutions and identify portions of the organization’s IT platform/infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment. Performs operations and maintenance of secure managed cloud platform solutions. Implements and maintains automation to enhance operation, alerting, and auto-remediation of events. Develops, maintains, and deploys infrastructure as code using CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
· Create security-driven Azure enterprise architectures, enterprise systems, and service-oriented architectures.
· Establish and execute detailed cloud migration project plans.
· Drive cloud consulting engagements by providing technical and business insights to cloud strategy engagements, technology and architecture, deployments, cloud migrations, and portfolio management.
· Lead the design and implementation of PaaS/IaaS services, constructs, and deployment methods using containerization, database-as-a-service, storage, and infrastructure automation.
· Provide expertise in architecture and design of services and systems in support of the various customer applications through the organization and its security.
· Participate in technical project review meetings to ensure technical designs meet the client’s operational requirements and infrastructure/security standards.
· Educate and influence stakeholders and engineering teams on effective cloud solutions and best practices.
Qualifications
· 16 years of experience, may have management experience
· 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Azure Government.
· Experience in architecture of flexible, scalable, and highly-available systems.
· Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, EKS).
· Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (TerraForm, ARM templates, CloudFormation templates).
· Experience using DevOps concepts and tools (GitLab, JIRA, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Ansible).
· One or more Cloud Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional/Associate.
· Familiarity with DoD IT processes, regulations, and current IT cloud initiatives.
· Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
