Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a software engineer to support our Annapolis Junction team in applying advanced computer science methodologies to develop, deliver, and support flexible and scalable solutions to address technical challenges. The software engineer will be responsible for analyzing user requirements to derive software design and performance standards for one or more software development teams, ensuring quality and that work is completed in accordance with constraints of the software development process being used. Responsibilities include the design, modification, and debugging of new and existing software while integrating into new or modified systems or operating environments.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required with seven (7) years’ experience as a  SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and, complexity. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.
  • Experience developing applications and utilities using high-level languages, specifically C++ and Python.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux and shell scripting (i.e. bash, Perl, Ruby). 
  • Experience participating in or leading code reviews.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and developing queries.
  • Understanding of network communication (e.g., OSI model), communication protocols (TCP, UDP, etc.), network security infrastructure (IPsec, MACsec, TLS, etc.), and network sockets programming.
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment with deliverables, acceptance criteria, and cross organizational dependencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Developing software for programmable devices (e.g., Network Processing Units (NPUs), Hardware Accelerators, SmartNICs.
  • Experience implementing or testing technical standards, e.g., IEEE Ethernet specifications or IETF IP protocol specifications.
  • Familiarity with high-speed, high-volume network and data flow processing.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
