Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned electrical or power engineer experienced in electric generation and distribution to provide subject matter expertise to a US Government client in assessing energy capabilities and supply chain risks to meet facility power requirements.  Collaboration with a Business Analyst is key in compiling and organizing data responses from various agencies, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.  A successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable in practical electric power distribution.  Knowledge of nuclear power plant operations is also desirable.

 

Responsibilities:

In this role you will work with a small team to assess the feasibility and tradeoffs for employing available nuclear energy in specific use-cases.  This expert will be responsible for a comprehensive analysis of energy supply options, distribution networks, availability trends, and system reliability. They will leverage their deep understanding of the field to suggest innovative solutions to enhance grid resilience and efficiency.  The team will also identify alternatives and any innovative technologies.

  • Analyze energy supply options, distribution, availability, and reliability.
  • Suggest innovative solutions to enhance the electrical grid's efficiency and resilience.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with a Business Analyst to compile and organize data responses for agency inquiries.
  • Confer with utility companies, equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders.

 

This position is a short-term assignment, 6-8 months, possibly up to a year.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • TS/SCI with Poly
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems and grid infrastructure
  • Proven experience in energy supply and distribution analysis
  • Working knowledge of electric power generation systems and components
  • Ability to innovate and implement forward-thinking solutions
  • In-depth understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical and data organization skills
  • Effective collaboration and communication abilities
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and data management
  • Familiarity with current regulations and standards, as their expertise will guide compliance and strategic planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to distill complex technical topics into clear and concise language for a range of technical expertise from novice to expert.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
