Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer - Piping Systems & HVAC - to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the NASA Glenn Engineering and Research Support (GEARS) Contract team. As a major partner of the GEARS team, Peraton is responsible to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services to maintain, enhance and improve the facilities at the NASA John Glenn Research Center Facilities. This position will allow for some telework, but will be primarily located on site and will require someone who lives locally and can commute to the NASA GRC facility in Brook Park. 

 

In this position, you will work closely with the NASA Glenn Research Center Facilities group and the GRC research, testing, and other engineering personnel to develop requirements and prepare designs for mechanical systems. Responsibilities include design and drafting for mechanical systems repairs and upgrades, field investigations of existing systems, engineering studies, contractor oversight on select projects, requirements development and editing/creation of construction specifications.

 

Mechanical systems you will be supporting will include the following:

  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Cooling towers
  • Chilled water systems
  • Natural gas systems
  • Steam systems
  • Combustion air systems
  • Refrigerated air systems
  • Altitude and atmospheric exhaust systems
  • Service air systems
  • Fire suppression systems

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with a focus in fluid systems and a minimum of 5+ years of related technical experience; an AS degree and 7+ years of related experience; without a degree, 9+ years of related experience and technical training may be considered.
  • HVAC Design experience
  • Plumbing Design experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Construction Specifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience leading and executing LEED certified projects
  • P.E. license in the State of Ohio
  • Knowledge of the Synergis ADEPT data management system
  • Experience working with NASA or other similar government agencies.
  • Previous leadership experience and project management experience.
  • Communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Must be a US citizen and able to NASA badge

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
