Responsibilities

We are currently seeking Automation Engineers in support of the IRS MIDS contract. These qualified individual will work with a high performing team. The work is also fulltime remote which is a plus!

 

What you will do:

  • Designs, develops, and implements application/infrastructure solutions.
  • Designs architecture and completes plans and specifications to develop solutions.
  • Collaborates with product managers and engineers to develop specifications for new products/services, applications, and solutions.
  • Drives the roll-out of management platforms, evaluates its performance and implements enhancements.
  • Develops and enriches the product portfolio of IT services and value-added services.
  • Creates solution recommendations to include Basis of Estimate for IT services.
  • Evaluates the cost/benefit of cloud vs. virtual private networks vs. dedicated hosting vs. in house solutions and identifying portions of the organization’s IT platform/infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment.
  • Performs operations and maintenance of secure managed platform solutions.
  • Implements and maintains automation to enhance operation, alerting, and auto remediation of events.
  • Develops, maintains, and deploys infrastructure as code using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provides architectural and big picture oversight for development of new or enhanced products.
  • Articulates the architectural vision, conceptualizes, and experiments with alternative architectural approaches, creates models and component and interface specification documents, and validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions.
  • Works with various product developers, product managers, and customer application experts to create software products containing required features and modifications.
  • Provides technical advice to other departments within the organization and may be responsible for integrating components built by product developers.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities associated with creating automation (software) across multiple functional areas and products.
  • Prioritizes and allocates projects, products, and resources with the assistance of architects and managers.
  • Participates in the strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of the software products.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of a multi-team or cross-functional organization.
  • Directs software development projects to include, ensuring that projects are completed on time and according to quality standards, facilitating communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances and technical information.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience. Additional 4 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree. 
  • Experience with programming and software development including analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting and/or upgrading of software systems.
  • Experience in the following skillset: 
    • Java Development (OpenJDK
    • Red Hat Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, Active Message Queue, JBOSS EAP, FUSE
    • Control-M Workload Automation
    • Virtual Machines and containers (Kubernetes)
    • Spring Boot
    • Websphere
  • Experience in Microsoft .NET Framework, IIS/SQL Server.
  • MQ Series/PostgreSQL experience.
  • Familliarity with GitHub / GITLAB, Nexus, Morpheus, Aria, Ansible, PowerShell, Jenkins, SonarQube, Teraforms
  • Agile Software Development experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian tools.
  • Experience with Microservices architecture.
  • Experience with building UX-centric web applications that have scaled with increased user-base.
  • Experience working in environments that utilize continuous integration methodologies.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
