Responsibilities

 

Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS).  The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions.  The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation’s economy and protects life and property. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Optimizes network and database performance.
  • Provides ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems.
  • Supports the design, installation, maintenance and coordination of the use of network systems.
  • Evaluates hardware and software and peripheral equipment for large, complex networks.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.
  • Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance and problem resolution.
  • Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms. Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures and standards.
  • Administration of F5 BIG-IP: Administer and support F5 appliances throughout the organization from a networking role.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering/related field and 5-7 years’ experience or Master’s Degree and 3-5 years’ experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 
  • 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale network infrastructures.
  • Experience in configuring virtual servers creating F5 VIPs, Pools, Pool members, routing and monitor BIG-IP configuration states and files.
  • Strong background in Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switches.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise routing and switches.
  • Cisco ASA & FTD Firewalls. 
  • Familiar with AWS Networking, Azure, VPC configuration, Direct connect Gateway configuration, Transit gateway configuration/attachment configuration, BGP, Terraform configuration / authoring.
  • Familiar with Automation Tools - Infoblox NetMRI, Ansible, Git, Python.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust.
  • U.S. Citizen

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Working with government STIGs and vulnerability resolution.
  • Evaluating versions of networking hardware operating systems to identify remediation to security findings.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification.
  • Experience working with Datacenter and WAN infrastructures.
  • Agile development experience is a plus.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
